Lauren Dodd
Acrylic / oil pastel / pen / multimedia
Dodd is a contemporary acrylic artist whose work combines bold color, layered texture, and often a showcase of pink bodies. She leans toward moments that feel both deeply personal and universally human. Each piece emerges through feeling, experimentation and play, blending figurative and abstract elements.
Raised in the suburbs of Renton, Washington in a family of 6, she was always drawn to creativity. Building fairy houses out of sticks and leaves with her best friend, drawing on herself like tattoos, and always doodling on paper.
College took her to Marietta, Georgia to play Rugby. Between studying, training, and work, painting still found a home in her busy schedule. In an attempt to ship her 2016-2019 artwork, it was lost in the mail. She holds a personal vendetta against FedEx.
Post-graduation of her Bachelor’s degree, she found herself in Beijing, China, as one does. Three years of work-life-covid-creating-balancing she moved back to Seattle.
In Seattle, Dodd welcomed more commissions, and found more inspiration to grow her skills. With the push of a best friend, ( the “push” being a long and direct line of questioning about life intentions and what brings JOY) she gained the confidence to take up art full time. The next few months looked like freeloading at Aiyana’s house in Denver while building this website, learning how to edit files for print, and being a person sharing her art on the internet.
She is tired of typing in third person.
We are half a month out from the New Year, and the first year studying and working in art full time. 2026 will take me to study art in Barcelona, and the rest is soon to come.
